Chef Michael Psilakis, of Kefi and Anthos in Manhattan, just got a liquor license for the space on the corner of North 10th Street and Driggs. According to the New York Post, “The chef has not signed a lease on the space and even if he does, he remains unsure of the concept of the business. So far, Psilakis is using the name Biergarten williamsburg LLC, for the liquor license application, but this would not be the name of the restaurant.” With Radegast in walking distance, is this neighborhood in need of another biergarten? Or would it make more sense for Psilakis to bring his signature Greek cuisine to Brooklyn? GMAP

Well, sounds like a successful enterprise to me. To whom do I make out my cheque?

Seriously, though- do people regularly get speculative liquor licenses? I guess it sort of makes sense (no reason to sign a lease if you can’t sell booze) but I had always just figured you would need an actual establishment if you were applying for a license.

  2. berry park does have a pretty big roof top tho!
this is a good location, think that it’ll do well – right near the driggs exit off the bedford L, close to all the developments on the park and obviously warehouse 11 if there are ever any people in it.

too lazy, or i’d take some pics of the hotties coming off the L. they do exist. not sure if they’re proper “hipsters” if they have jobs of course. check out the waterfront concerts for that, and you can take their deets then – maybe they live in bushwick.
