Remember back in the salad days of 2007 when the word on the street was that Union Market was going to set up an outpost in the former Dollar Dream store at 633 Fulton Street in Fort Greene? ‘Twas not to be. After many months of renovation, the new facade was revealed last week, along with a large For Rent banner and a smaller one announcing one of the new tenants for the refurbished space: a Dollar Store. Sign o’ the times.

  1. Well, as a long-time resident of Fort Greene (“LTRFG”?), I have to say I missed having the 99-cent store there! In a pinch, I would saunter down Fulton for glasses, aluminum roasters and other disposable cooking tins, Sterno (TM), candy for my 90-year-old aunt, a bucket, helium balloons (99-cents was a lot better than $4.50 from other places), nightlight bulbs, etc., etc.

    Sorry, Guys!

    🙂
