The small clothing boutique AliKat NYC, on Court Street near the corner of Warren, is shuttering. According to a store employee, September 20th will be its last day of business. The employee said the closing wasn’t due to lease negotiations but was happening “because we decided it’s time.” PMFA, which also took note of the closing, says the shop specialized in clothing for teens. 1. It’s a YUPPIE neighborhood! Always has been, always will be. (And I can say that because I was born and raised here.)
That being said, AliKat was the perfect store for the Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens area. The staff were never snooty to anyone. And it didn’t “ruin” the neighborhood at all, you idiots. Who are you to judge people who can afford and desire a pair of $400 leggings? I wouldn’t spend my money that way, but that’s just me. But ultimately, why do you even care?! No offense, but if you wanted to be a hipster surrounded by cheap-ass second hand clothing you’d go live in Williamsburg.

  2. love this place! what a shame 🙁
not only do I buy all my jeans and sweaters there(that, ahem, are NOT overpriced for the quality of which they are) but the people who work there are just so devoted to the store and friendly. I will miss it all! sad to see it go.

  3. “Oh, man. You’re all forgetting that there are people behind this store that you think is so silly. People who put their time money and probably their hearts into it. Sometimes I hate this site.” You are forgetting the most important thing to put into a bussiness and that is your head. When you put all your money to paying rent for a blood sucking landlord you are finished. I only hate because easy money made the rents go sky high making it hard for the working family man and woman.
