A few weeks ago marked the first run of a bimonthly market in the garage of the Old American Can Factory on 3rd Street and 3rd Avenue. The market, which runs on the second and fourth Sundays of every month (next one is this weekend), is described as “a curated makers’ market of art and design products and services. The market is a new place to find art and wares designed and crafted by a broad community of creative makers and organizations, including many based at the Can Factory.” A list of some of the vendors involved—which include jewelry designers, chocolate makers, and textile artists—is here.

  1. My experience at the Can Factory Market has been nothing but positive. The environment there is very friendly and open. It’s a great spot to find unique objects that are hand-crafted by makers with a high regard for detail. I think it’s a wonderful forum for artists and the public to connect with each other. Yay!

  2. I’m delighted to be participating in this market. The organizers clearly have a vision and a real sense of how to execute it. It’s great to be in the company of so many creative, talented people.

  3. The Market at the Can Factory is a nice space for local designer-makers and their visitors / neighbors to meet and discuss their creative work and the neighborhood. I’m glad I can be part of it.

  4. We are so glad you guys spotted us! And about this Sunday, the 12th, it’s really turning out to be our best line up of Makers. you know, the makers are really what The Market is about. They define it and so if you guys do check out the list and like what you see, do come out. The makers will be there in person to chat about what they do and how they do it. Sway Space will be there again this Sunday demonstrating on their turn of the century type setting machine. They are also making things on the spot! And one of Brooklyn’s newest soap makers, Meow Meow Tweet will be there too. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the wonderful quality of their hand made soaps! Okay well I really hope to see you guys there! Even if it’s drizzly out cause we’re indoors with fresh air and you’re more than welcome to walk your bikes or pets in with you. We have plenty of room.
