Il-Cuntuccio.jpgUncle Louie G location, Pardon Me For Asking notes. A commenter on Cobble Hill blog thinks there might be a spelling mistake on the signage—”cantuccio” (not cuntuccio) is the Italian word for corner.” And there’s a bakery called Il Cantuccio in Manhattan, which is named for the “twice-baked cookie” that it sells by the kilo, according to Time Out New York. Any Italian speakers want to weigh in on this one? GMAP

  1. I’m with Grand Army- I used to live in that giant lofty building up the block, and while the old russo buildings are dirty and ramshackle, they were once normal respectable houses, and now are at least interesting to look at.

This new piece of… brick, despite having all the world of architecture open to it, is completely without merit.

Or was, until they put that sign in the window. Now, I’m totally going over there.

…just so I can say “Tonight I’ll be eating out at Cuntuccios, followed by a long ride on the F train.”

  2. This is ghastly intersection, often backed up with traffic trying to get to the Brooklyn-Battery tunnel. The new building is fugly. The old ramshackle dumps next door, otoh, have a certain je-ne-sais-quoi Brooklyn charm.
