This morning the Brooklyn Eagle confirmed long-held rumors about the big new tenant at the former D’Agostino’s on 7th Avenue and 6th Street in the Slope: It’s another bank. The unidentified bank (Gowanus Lounge sources believe it’s going to be a Bank of America) will share the 4,500-square-foot space with a smaller, TBD tenant, according to landlord Larry Wittlin. “I wouldn’t want another, simply one of those corner everything-type stores, says Wittlin. I want something more upscale. Something that would fit in here or in Brooklyn Heights or in the city.”

I live around the corner, BOA is my bank, but I’m still not too thrilled. I’d rather have something different and cool than a bank…I can walk three blocks to 9th street if I need money from their ATM…why does such a huge space have to be turned into something so boring?
I agree on a Walmart. It’s a one stop center to collect and buy anything you want. And if it comes with a deli, they have excellent rolls etc.
How about a WalMart! Brooklyn needs one of them!
Second a gay bar!
Gay bar.
How about a deli?
Hey, 8:22, the last thing this thread needs is someone complaining about the complainers who complain about the complainers. But I’m not complaining. Just sayin’!
“Honestly you people will find something to bitch about no matter WHAT, so who cares?”
Indeed. I bet people will even complain about other people complaining!!!!!!!
Everyone bitched and moaned about D’ag. Now everyone is bitching and moaning about Bank of America.
Honestly you people will find something to bitch about no matter WHAT, so who cares?
7th Avenue is miles and miles long. There are plenty of other spaces (now about 10 opening up near 2nd street) for 16 more Tea Lounges, 12 more Yoga studios and an Organic Vegan Day Spa open only on Buddhist holidays.
Lord. I wonder if everyone in the 70’s complained as much as you all do that all of 7th were delis and all of 5th was a burned out hellhole.
