There is a sign telling you the price of gas. Just drive to a station that sells at a much lower price.
I third the fact that they are crooks. You get caught up in their web if you ever call tripleA. Stay as far away as possible!!
“No one here needs to be driving.”
There are lots of neighborhoods in NYC that aren’t served by good public transportation and where having a car is basically a necessity.
The good service stations were further down on Atlantic near the jail. Both were closed and torn down. Now both sites are vacant lots. Ah progress!
I had the same situation when I let AAA tow my disabled car there instead of a reputable mechanic. They gave me an estimate twice what it should cost. They refused to release the car to me unless I paid them for the estimate. I paid the fee had the car towed to my regular mechanic who got it running for a fair price. I then complained to AAA who said that I could have got a free tow to any shop within three miles, they refunded the estimate charge and said that they dropping them as a AAA franchise.
There are so few mechanic in that I area I don’t see that they need to be crooked. They should do pretty well by just doing a good job for a fair price.
“We have the best public transit in America. No one here needs to be driving.”
Right. Because your fellow riders will be so happy to see you get on the subway with your sheetrock and lumber and buckets of joint compound from Home Depot.
The last time I checked the pumps are run by different people than the service facility.
The service guys, where AAA would tow you, are known to be a bit on the shady side.
The guys running the pumps are independent of the mechanics, and I’ve always had a good experience with them. The mechanics… not so much…
I’m sorry to see that they reopened. I’ll second the strut comments. They will not install self-supplied parts and charge you 100% markup for the same part.
At least the condo developers only screw you once rather than on an ongoing basis.
BEWARE: They will constantly identify ‘issues’ with parts that are worn but not out of norm; you have no inexpensive way of determining the accuracy of their diagnosis. Their labor rates are much higher than the norm, and their parts are 100% over wholesale.
I won’t be going back.
goldie, get real. We have the best public transit in America. No one here needs to be driving.
