The Kennedy Fried Chicken spot near 9th Street has succumbed to the changing winds of Fifth Avenue’s dining/retail scene. The fast food joint closed down and will soon house a Middle Eastern restaurant owned by the same people behind Fatoosh, the Middle Eastern place on Hicks Street. We’ve never been to the original Fatoosh, and we’re wondering whether Heights-area folks can give us the lowdown on their food. Is Park Slope in for some good grub? GMAP

  1. hey 8:07 my story is 101 percent true as i have told many people about it prior to 9/11. in fact 3:05/dec 20 i wasnt shit ass drunk, just a little buzzed and was making small talk to the guy behind the counter. this is called being nice to the people preparing your food and not looking down to people who work at fast food joints. at no time did i disparage their religious beliefs or where they were from. not to mention spit would have probably only improved their food. you should know a lot about getting spit in your food since you probably treat the wait staff like shit at the crappy bistros you likely frequent.

as long as were on the topic, i also once heard a little girl ask her dad at the 4th avenue/33rd street White Castle why he couldn’t get a good job for himself there. now that was funny!

  2. Amen on Blooms, 9:30! I bought a plant there a couple years back and was mistakenly double charged on my credit card for it. I brought in the receipt and my statement–then explained to them that I had WATCHED THE GUY swipe my card through twice, and now we were seeing the result. Their reaction was to claim that “wasn’t possible” and basically accuse me of trying to steal from them.

I got pissed off, raised a stink and got my refund. The boycott began immediately. Clowns.

  3. I was in the Blooms soon after it opened. The owner or manager of the Chinese restaurant next door came in to complain that the florist was spraying something in the backyard that was wafting over the fence into the restaurant’s kitchen.

Seemed like a reasonable complaint to me. He was afraid he’d be shut down and asked the florist to stop spraying whatever it was. The florist basically told him to F-OFF and ‘Mind your own business’, etc in a pretty ugly exchange. I never went back to Blooms again. I never ordered from that restaurant either.
