The blog McBrooklyn recently posted a photo of the spiral pool at Pier 2 of Brooklyn Bridge Park, which is taking shape nicely. The park is looking more and more like the renderings, which is good news for Brooklynites, who have been eagerly awaiting the park’s completion for some time now.

  1. Yes, I imagine you’ll be able to keep your kayak at the marina. This will definitely be the most expensive marina in NYC. I’m really wondering about fishing rights on the piers. Anyone know if there has been a decision made on this? I’ve caught some nice stripers and blues at bbp, but not sure if they have a strict policy on this yet.

  2. The bf and I have been bike riding as of late, and has been stunned by the variety and beauty of the public spaces in New York City. There has been so much great work done on the waterfronts.

  3. BHO in particular has had it in for this park so I am glad to see it moving forward. It must be tweaking him no end to see this progress. God forbid the people of Brooklyn have a new public space to enjoy.

  4. bkre, I think sam committed blogicide awhile back or at least said he was taking a break. I noticed him recently on a few, albeit rare occasions. It’s too bad, I liked his comments. BHO said last week he was going on vacation, hence his absence.

Having said all of that, I was never a naysayer with respect to this park other than to question them being able to meet the initial timelines. I am thrilled to see it progressing and cannot wait to spend lots of time there with Mrs. C. and the Champettes. This will provide some wonderful and much-needed park space for Brooklyn Heights residents as well as all New Yorkers interested in enjoying the space.

  5. jscheff – I know you’re new to this, so I’ll help you out. The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy is a private advocacy group who’s mission is to promote the notion of building Brooklyn Bridge Park. Also they do some programming in the existing portions of the park, like the movie series. The Brooklyn Bridge Park Development Corp is the City/State funded public entity that was created to design and buld the park. The renderings you reference were created by the development corporation, not by the conservancy. The two entities agree on alot and work together often, but I still think that someone who is blogging on this topic should know the difference.

Also – anyone notice how quiet all those folks like Sam and BHO who used to always add comments like “never gonna happen” when a Brooklyn Bridge Park comment came up are being lately? What do you think the chances are that one of those guys will have to guts to actually admit they were wrong on this one.

    ….Splash!!!
