Walls are rising at 79 Grand Street on the corner of Wythe in Williamsburg, where a six-story building with five units is planned, according to permits. The architect is Philip Toscano.
The oddly shaped double lot previously held some empty land and a three-unit row house, now partly demolished. The property sold for $2,100,000 in 2012.
The red brick building down the street, a lovely old warehouse, is also being torn down to make way for a new apartment building. This stretch across the street from the playground will look completely different in a year or two. Click through to the  jump to see a schematic of the new building.
