Silent Barn is cleaning out and painting its new building at 603 Bushwick Avenue in anticipation of a January opening. (Volunteers are needed.) The once-illegal, now legit music and performance venue shut down last year after a robbery at its original warehouse in nearby Ridgewood, Queens. A successful Kickstarter campaign got the group back on their feet, and they recently signed a ten-year lease on a 10,000-square foot work-live space between Melrose and Jefferson Street. So that leaves only underground Bushwick music venue Market Hotel, shuttered since 2010, to rise from the ashes.
