Traffic in Fort Greene: Major sections of both Vanderbilt (top) and Lafayette (bottom) Avenues have been under construction, causing back-ups on alternate and overlapping routes. Today the action expands further on Lafayette into Clinton Hill. Times like these a mountain bike comes in handy.

  1. I was on Lafayette yesterday and it was so dusty every time a car passed by – hopefully today’s rains will help. As a broker, thank you Brownstoner “Fort Hill” will be on my next week listings.

  2. Blowfish, the LPC designated maps and boundaries are technical enough for me. When i look on an LPC map and see a big red line delineating a boundary, i must be imagining things.

Zinka, “will go” from Ashland to Classon, is the operative word. For the past week, Fort Greene, not Fort Hill nor Clinton Hill has been saddled with this repaving. Going forward this project will continue to Classon which IS indisputably Clinton Hill.

  3. Col. Steve: The repaving of Lafayette will go from Ashland to Classon. It’s indisputable that the eastern part of that is in Clinton Hill.

  4. Colonel: There is no such thing as “technical” boundaries. Neighborhood boundaries are invented and informal- no legal or civil designations exist. I hate when people police imaginary things.

  5. It just seems the choice was less about brevity and more about cutesiness

Factually, what part of Clinton Hill is the construction going on? Technically, Vanderbilt is the boundary. So I guess it is a couple feet in Clinton Hill.

Has the Flea moved from Fort Greene to Fort Hill now?

  6. it will be dug up in no time by either con ed or national grid or of course, there is always verizon or time warner cable! they never seem to coordinate the activity.
