Brooklyn Heights Blog reported way back in January that former Busy Chef space at 60 Henry would be getting a new restaurant tenant, but it’s only in recent days that the interior has started to take shape. Most notably, we got a peek through the soaped-over windows yesterday and saw a long wooden and marble bar along the southern end of the space. According to a Brooklyn Paper article, also from last January, the new spot, called Bevacco and brought to you by the owner of Bar Toto, Provini and Bar Tano, will feature Italian fare. We’re not cursed and we’re not fraudsters, the owner told the paper at the time. This is an attractive corner and our friends say that the neighborhood could use a nice Italian eatery with some fine wines.
I second the idea of a French bistro. This is a French bistro sort of neighborhood. Keep the all the fusion junk in Park Slope.
A good Mexican restaurant would have been good in that space.
I like the concept of Bar Toto, Provini and Bar Tano but when I’ve eaten at these restaurants the food has often been mediocre and the service lack luster. It’s always a problem when owners spread themselves too thin.
EHinBH, that sounds excellent.
What we need is a french bistro: steak frites, mussels, onion soup, omlettes… A place like that would have a line out the door every night.
Hello, Goodbye.
I agree with irvingberlin.
Next…
Agree with BOD – Noodle Pudding is sensational and prices very reasonable. Fine wine selection there as well, though below “fine wine” prices.
I eat in Heights quite often. Another Italian place is a mistake as there is more than enough (BG, Noodle) I.E., slow biz at Verde on Smith. However, if any operator can work it, these guys can. I find Tano quite appealing.
Clearly, their friends have not been to Noodle Pudding up the block. And yes, this corner IS cursed. Good Luck!
