28rats.jpgIf you’ve watched the evening news in the past week, you’ve probably seen some footage of the KFC/Taco Bell in Greenwich Village that was closed due to rat infestation. (We’re talking straight-up Secret of NIMH style — it’s super gross.) The inspector who’d been assigned to that restaurant has since been yanked from her job, and Health Commissioner Thomas Frieden told the Daily News:

“The inspector actually found rat signs and cited them for it, but did not take appropriate action given the level of infestation. We’re looking at that inspector, we’re looking at the supervisors and we’re looking at our policies.”

They’re also looking at the 20 other city restaurants run by ADF Cos., the same operator as the rat-infested fast food joint. Rodents also were cited at the ADF-run Pizza Huts at 2082 Rockaway Parkway, Brooklyn. Wait a minute, are there really Brooklynites who eat Pizza Hut? Ew.

  1. i grew up in brooklyn and we never ate at pizza hut because we had pizza places that were CHEAPER than pizza hut you do-dos! that’s the joke on people who think they’re saving by going to those chains! you don’t need trendy spots to avoid pizza hut – you just need your neighborhood spots. losers.

  2. Most people are oblivious to the fact that most fast food restaurants are infested with rodents. There are 20,000 restaurants in the city and around 10 inspectors and unless they actually see the rodents (and not just droppings) restaurants only get a fine. It’s all a racket. Anyone who has ever worked in the industry knows the real deal on restaurants. Even 4 star restaurants have these kinds of issues. Eat out at your own peril.

You people have a warped sense of Brooklyn and the people who live here. Don’t you realize that not all of Brooklyn can afford to eat at all the trendy restaurants on Smith Street that you go to?

There are real Brooklynites out there that may not have the money or the desire to do the things you like to do.

But you’re not real Brooklynites, anyway, are you? You sound way too sheltered to have grown up in Brooklyn.

Crawl out from the rock you live under and take a walk in a not so trendy neighborhood. It’ll do you some good.
