As we announced a couple of months ago, the Brooklyn Flea is expanding to Williamsburg next month. Contrary to some rumors, The Flea is NOT leaving Fort Greene; rather, it will be in its flagship location at Lafayette and Vanderbilt on Saturdays as per usual starting April 2 and then launch on Sundays on the Williamsburg waterfront on April 3. The new Flea location is between North 6th and North 7th Street on the eventual site of the third Edge building. We stopped by yesterday to see how the grading of the site was going. It’s all very down to the wire but it’s looking like everything will be done in time. Wait ’til you get to take in that view while scarfing down a pupusa or Asia Dog. Yum! For more info, check out the Markets page of the recently-revamped Brooklyn Flea website.

  1. “I also agree… Williamsburg is over. If that ugly ass “luxury” building in the photo is what Williamsburg has become (and it is), well… it’s over. It’s just Manhattan East.”

yeah – it’s definitely east manhattan over near the water. haven’t been feelin it. you have to go much further east or north to greenpoint before you encounter any normal humans.

  2. umm… it was a joke. thus the little tongue sticky-out emoticon. jeesh.

I also agree… Williamsburg is over. If that ugly ass “luxury” building in the photo is what Williamsburg has become (and it is), well… it’s over. It’s just Manhattan East. It’s not surprising that Williamsburg is all but inaccessible to most parts of the rest of Brooklyn (and by that I mean *my* part) without a big detour to Manhattan.

  3. @tybur6: That is crazy. Like, not-based-in-reality crazy. If only someone had thought to mention the Flea is not leaving Fort Greene, somewhere in the article, perhaps in the second sentence…
