Pier 1 to Open Store on Atlantic Ave.

The rumors are true: Back in January we heard from a tipster that Pier 1 Imports had signed a lease for a to-be-developed space at the corner of Atlantic Avenue and Boerum Place. Now we’ve received confirmation from the property owner that the home furnishings giant will indeed be setting up shop at 252 Atlantic Avenue; joining it will be gym chain Retro Fitness. The newcomers will occupy a new two-story commercial building, not seven stories as originally envisioned for the site. The application for the building permit was filed last week and is awaiting review. The building will be called the Atlantic Galleria. Pier 1 already has five stores in the other boroughs but this will be its first in Brooklyn; Retro Fitness has one location in Williamsburg and one in Brownsville. GMAP
