We got in a few tips that the Oro commercial space has filled up. According to one tipster: “I live in the Oro and saw a new sign up for a cafe that looks like its going to be going into the third and final retail space in the base of the Oro Condominiums. The other spaces are an insurance office for Allstate and the wine store. The name looks like it’s going to be the ‘Green Cafe’ and from the looks of the sign, it will have organic and natural food served there.” There’s also a nail salon that’s opened across the street. In all, a nice little burst of new retail activity for the area.

What about those desiring inorganic, unnatural food? How about a Brown Cafe for them?

I’m sure the Developers at least broke even – dont be
That sign does not inspire a lot of confidence. Though Johnson Deli has cleaned up/enhanced itself a bit, the prepared food is not very enticing. Plus, without beer and bacon, there are gaping holes in its offerings!
Dear god I hope they plan to sell beer.
It’s a success in terms of the neighborhood, the residents, the neighboring buildings, the growth of Downtown as an emerging actual place for 24/7 habitation. I’m sure the Developers at least broke even, though other condo developers seem to signal the profit margins aren’t attractive enough to build additional condos, opting for rentals instead. Actually surprised Oro2 isnt developed as half hotel, half rentals.
I think we can agree that the Oro is a success – for whom?
Brooklyn = yes; the developers = unlikely
Oro2 as well as the Space building and former McDonalds site are probably goingo be un-developed for at least 5-7 years. Oro2 is being used by the police to park some of their personal cars, though they still park all over gold and johnson incorrectly. One of the most arrogant Police Pts. to deal with
