YES Etson, That’s it!!!
We were on the Taconic heading north and the bridge went over the Croton Resevoir.
I had wished we were going over much slower. I didn’t get to appreciate the brdige or the view for long 🙁
etson, she went during that last two hours of the tour (3-5pm), which might explain why it was less of a wait. Plus, she was likely fairly strategic in the route she took and obviously knows the area, which I’m sure helped. Glad you enjoyed it; sounds like it was very worthwhile.
Re: the BH House Tour. These snobby ladies were in front of me (well, I guess, behind me and beside me, too) and were talking about how they just made reservations at the River Cafe for July 4th so they could watch the fireworks from the restaurant. I didn’t tell them that the fireworks, at least as of now, are not happening in the East River. I loved State Street and Hicks and thought Remsen had a funny smell, probably due to some artwork.
Biff,
Mrs Champion is probably smarter at coordinating than we were! We were worried we might not get it all in at one point (tho we did stop for lunch) but the lines abated late in the afternoon.
etson, regarding the lines to enter, Mrs. Champion did say they were rather long, but moved fast. She was late in arriving but said, within the two hours or so she had for the entire tour, she was easily able to see all of the homes (although she knew someone hosting at the last place she visited so she got to stay a few extra minutes).
BRG,
Maybe it was one of the bridges on the Taconic that cross the reservoir in Yorktown? There is one for each direction, so you can see the southbound bridge if you are going north and vice versa. Think one of those is red and the view scross the reservoir is wonderful (although hard to enjoy because of one is usually driving at least 55 at that point).
If it wasn’t one of those – you should check them out anyway.
THL, yeah tell me about it, she was asking him if he was a top or bottom and whether he considered himself masculine or feminine. She was rude and obnoxious, as she is all the time, but she was going WAY over the line this time. This poor gay guy was getting offended and he was so nice and genuine about it. I would of kicked her ass out of the house if I was him.
THANKS VINCA!!!!
I had seen a clip of that collapse. In your second link, I love the music.
We went over a great truss bridge on Friday heading upstate. I forget what road we were on as I was sleeping (I know bad co-pilot) and hubby nudged me awake so I can look at the bridge. It was painted bright red.
Biff,
The glass doors st State Street were amazing! They ‘folded’ open from left to right if that makes sense. The room they were in was furnished in mid century modern style with wooden floating shelves and everything fit together perfectly.
The other house was on Hicks Street and was also beautifully done, with the reception rooms being its best feature. Plantings in the garden were perfect as well. Some of the kitchen and bedroom fittings were a little suburban looking though. Says the totally jealous guy…
Remsen half-house had some very odd modern art which detracted from the place. Didn’t feel liveable-in.
