Laughing reading this in the NYT real estate section today because all the snarky anonymous quotes are from Brownstoner. I’m sure you will all recognize them.
DIBS, that’s the problem with used industrial machinery – they don’t come with any instructions!
Best thing to do is to buy a new el-cheapo machine (make sure you buy the same type as the one you have! Yours is probably a lockstitch machine) so you can see how to thread it correctly and work out what the adjustments are (ironically, an industrial machine will have much fewer things to play with).
Practice with lots of scrap bits of material until you get the hang of it. It becomes second-nature once you are used to it (just look at your average sweatshop) but you don’t want to damage expensive fabric/leather before you are ready.
Bxgrl, it’s a home one just for a few odd jobs – couldn’t fit an industrial one in my bag!
cmu- I never read those- I love BSG but haven’t yet dropped the line between reality and fantasy :-). At least I tell myself that. Great shows, great writing, great visuals- it’s all about the art for me.
Sorry, just trying to be “clever” or at least, having read too much of the BSG bb where they will not talk about what can be but pretend what;s on the screen IS.
cmu- Well….duh! Of course he was written that way and changed to suit the plot. There’s nothing metaphysical about writers and characters. it’s pretty clearcut. In all likelihood once they got a cut off date from Sci-fi they started compressing the storylines to the schedule. That’s why changes seemed to happen more rapidly and with less natural development. BTW- I was referring to the Chief- go back and reread my post.
bxgrl: Gaeta became a self-righteous prig…because he was written that way, let’s remember. He (the character) was changed to suit the plot or am I getting too metaphysical? Does the character exist outside the plot? Oh well. So I feel bad, not because G became a srp, but because that’s the way the plot crumbled,
Btw, did anyone else notice that ALL the human females (not jsut the stars, even Kat and Seelix and the lesser characters) were dead by the end? ALL of them? What does THAT say?
Ha, chicken- fond memories of overlockers. Home or industrial? There is nothing like a good industrial machine. Everything for the home market feels like a tinkertoy after that. Thank goodness the Great EVLL has all the equipment downstairs should I feel the urge to sew again. Are you bringing it back to the states or was that a silly question?
