bxgrl….according to the prevailing wisdom on another thread you should attempt to renogotiate the rent. Maybe you could even do it in the middle of the lease. Nothing in Crown heights or Bed Stuy should rent for more than $600 anyway.
My tenants gave me a sweater for Christmas. I hope they weren’t trying to tell me something.
THL- I make Mad Scientist soup- which means I look in the fridge and experiment. I love stewpot/leftovers soup, but its the spices that make the taste. And sometimes I toss in a packet or two of Knorr 4 cheese sauce mix.
Luckily ofr me my landlord bakes. when its cookies I get to lick the bowl. sadly the landlord has been remiss in baking cookies this year 🙁
yeah it was the minced frozen kind i made. honestly i never had them before. they tasted just like white castle for some reason (ahhh the good old days of white castle)
ETA – speaking of white castle, my aunt worked at one for like 20 years in jersey. she could not even when she showered get the scent of white castle off of her. it was really weird.

Rob- that’s my comfort food. I LOVE onion rings. Any kind will do. Homemade, minced frozen, whatever. I also love to dip them in Chipotle Mayo (equal parts mayo and any chipotle sauce) or blue cheese dressing. I know, I know, very healthy!
BRG- If no wine try squeezing in the juice of one lemon for a little acidity.
While I love cooking baking is not my love. It’s way to scientific, less recipe fudging allowed. So cleaning in exchange for cookies is right up my ally!
THL, thanks. I def. like ukrainian better…will try the recipe you posted this weekend, minus the wine….No alcohol for me.
Hubby made sugar free (trying to stay away) double chocolate macadamian nut cookies a couple of weeks ago that were out of this world. He won’t share the recipe with me. But I was very happy to clean up the very messy kitchen in exchange for more cookies.
DIBS, please wear it to the next get together.

“sadly the landlord has been remiss in baking cookies this year :-(”
Maybe you didn’t shovel enough snow for your Elitist Pompous Landlady!
Landlord hasn’t seen much soup, either.
