  1. Hey Rob – I hear you as far as vacations are concerned. If you’re living paycheck to paycheck it’s hard to justify dropping $1,000+ on something that’s not exactly tangible.
It does definitely help one’s mental health getting the heck out of the city once and a while – especially when it’s nice out. I think we can all agree the city can be quite draining. Sometimes I find renting a car and just driving out to the middle of nowhere can be quite therapeutic, relaxing, and makes me appreciate the city more when I return rather then being so jaded!

  2. wasder, what would be a “rob appropriate hood?”

places ive lived so far in nyc

lower east side. was sooooo nice cuz i lived by myself for 4 1/2 years and then i got thrown out cuz it was an illegal sublet. the last year there tho was terrible cuz every friday/sat night was like mardi gras on ludlow street. tho still kind fun to throw water balloons off the roof.

then chelsea. blah. my boyfriend at the time took me and duke in cuz we would have been homeless. so i lived with him for another year and a half and we moved to morningside heights. then he dumped me and i moved into harlem proper and quality of life dipped so hardcore low and my teeth get knocked out, drugs everywhere in the apartment, my dog almost poisoned, but it was cheap. but i had enough and said ill look once more for somewhere to live and now live where i live now in park slope and i love my roommate and the apartment and the neighborhood but it just doesnt make sense.

i need to win the lottery or get on big brother 15 this summer and win

  3. rob- you might try actually visiting the Bronx before you condemn it.

Good luck with that, chicken. Let us know the name of the hospital you’ll be visiting after the match:-). Actually though, if you are just getting over the flu it’s not a good idea. Your system won’t be at its best. Most likely you’ll be feeling sluggish and not at full strength.

  4. Rob, I understand completely. Right now I’m broke as &*!@ and NYC is proving to be pure hell for me as well. As far as a vaca, do you know anyone you could go visit in one of those states for a few days first? You could do this on the cheap by taking a Greyhound bus out there, staying with a friend, etc.

  5. Okay – an important question for ‘stoners.

Should I take part in a charity boxing match on Wednesday? Bear in mind that I’m tragically out of shape having not done any meaningful exercise since February as well as just getting over the flu…

  6. i havent been on a vacation in many years. it’s kind of lame but i get three weeks of vacation days at work and most of the time i dont even use it all up, but instead just take random sick days and ask if i can take it from my vacation time. i wouldnt even know where to go and honestly vacations are so expensive to begin with.

if im living paycheck to paycheck and have no on to support and no credit card debt and im not even paying back my student loans, how the heck can this go on much longer you know what i mean?

im sorry but at this point in my life the thought of having to move to the bronx or east new york versus some random state, i think i might pick the random state.

quality of life in nyc is very VERY bad for a lot of people who don’t make a lot of money.
