Next week you’ll be required to take an IQ test, a literacy exam and submit a long format essay on the virtues of Brooklyn and it’s architectural significance. After a review board (comprised mostly of New Yorker contributors) reviews and approves your submission will you then be allowed to post.
Troy…I get friendly remarks from my dry cleaner, the owners and employees of Peaches & Solomon’s Porch, Jolie & Downtown Atlantic, Los Paisanos and the Fish Tales guys whenever I go back. And yes, the bodega guys too.
Troy, there is one little corner store in Greenwood Heights, I think it’s called Hamza, where I get star treatment. They are the only shop owners I have had in a long time greet me when I come in, ask me how I’m doing, etc. I actually wind up having a conversation with the guys for 5 minutes or so each time I go in. That keeps me going back. Other stores, and Mr. B, could learn a lot from that example.
Brownterds, you read my mind. I still say it’s about getting clicks. He hasn’t bothered to state what he expects of the OT or quality in other threads despite numerous people asking him what he wants. B.S. plain and simple.
I probably am shopping in the wrong places, but I live in Park Slope and have never found the shop owners to be appreciative. Not expecting a handjob in the back room, but a “hey how’s it going?” would be nice when you’ve been going to the same place since grade school.
Interestingly, the friendliest shop owners seem to be middle eastern guys, but that may be because they assume I am part of the fold.
