When my mother and aunt escaped Russia with their mother, scurvy was a problem on the ship. My aunt told me how one day she fell asleep on the deck and when she woke up she was surrounded with oranges. The sailors put them there for her and her twin, my mother.
Yeah Coca Cola had cocaine, 7-Up had lithium, there were no seat belt laws, women worked in places like the triangle shirt waist factory, the EPA didn’t exist, if you wanted to dump a bunch of gasoline in the river no one would get up in your business about it, PCBs were no big deal, kids played with bb guns….
I only had a rock sling shot thingie growing up in China. it did hurt more getting hit by a rock than a bb though
We used to play BB Tag – whoever was “It” could only shoot everyone below the neck.
