jessi, I could’ve used your help re-writing my profile this weekend, but I think I did okay since I got a bunch of unsolicited emails.
But, let me ask you this question, one Asian woman whom I emailed replies that she doesn’t meet someone in person until she knows them really well. Huh? How exactly does she expect to get to know someone well?
Jessi, I agree that the lack of women in technology is the bigger issue. In my 17 years in the IT field, I have seen the number of women drop dramatically, with very few entering.
I think the field has become less friendly to women, but the pool of female applicants has diminished greatly as well.
However, I also think that attitudes formed at early ages due lead to girls deciding to not focus on math and science, which leads to them not entering technical degree programs….
I am not saying that TV is the only reason, but I do think it is a contributing factor.
Lots of reasons why women lack self-esteem. Look at TV ads- the guys are represented as having brains, the women as T & A. Guys dance in flat shoes, women prance around in 5+ in heels or they don’t get to prance. CSI shows? The guys all dress accordingly but what forensic examiner would ever go on a case wearing a white suit and 5 inch heels, without proper protective clothing? It’s insidious.
Why’s that dave?

Harmon Killebrew died. 74
I think women only lack self esteem because they know nothing about politics or finance and can’t drive or parallel park.
