  1. “re Nobel prize, Krugman thinks he can comment on everything now. Maybe even women’s fashion.”

    Newsflash:

Paul Krugman set to try out with the NY Yankees.
States that he doesn’t see why he couldn’t come in as a designated hitter and bat .400 easily by just crowding the plate and intimidating opposing pitchers with his Nobel prize.
    More to follow.

  2. I have 64-bit Windows 7 & I hate it. I don’t like the way you navigate around on it. It won’t use any of my old programs & causes problems w/ new ones. Flash won’t go on a 64-bit, PhotoShop has glitches on it. I’d really like to have my 32-bit XP back.

  3. May I ask why it would even be a fuss if someone posted a joke about a burqa?

I find the idea of a burqa funny as a ridiculous nod to the subjugation of women.
Even more so the idea that women would defend these mores as being in some way culturally enlightened because of the diversity of opinion they represent.

It’s like asking if one should be offended because someone else wrote about having their girl wear a chastity belt willingly.

  4. bespoke is such a Brit word. It used to just mean custom tailored, now they use it for derivatives. Sort of embarrassing to use that word for financial instruments, feels pretentious.

SCOTT…..thank you very much for taking the time to explain the Vista story yesterday. That was really helpful – I thought, my god, so much freaking aggravation with that OS and I suspected that they just rushed it out finally, making us all beta testers. The rolled it out as the a fabulous upgrade and answer to Apple and that it was the best thing ever security wise, addressing all the worms, viruses, etc. But it was a gigantic mess, but what I get from your post is that it was long overdue changes to accomodate 64 bit technology, the use of larger hard drive capacity and need for better security. I struggled with software. NO DRIVERS worked and you never knew what was going on. I had to buy new software. Yes, I agree with your recommendations, based on your analysis. It was disingenuous to market it the way they did. The marketing story was interesting too. I think they really f@#ked up the Vista experiment and to use Vista 2.0 would have just infuriated everyone, sending them to Apple.

When you see how MS operated there, no wonder people love Apple. But they seem to have worked out a lot of the kinks and Microsoft 7 works fine.
