I fully agree with what you are saying. In fact, I think that was the point of Charles Murray’s speech, a type of warning to the two coastal regions of the US. He is, in effect, saying to them: “Is this where you want to go”?
You know, I feel it in another way. I became an engineer because I like to “make things”, so to speak, and I find myself increasingly feeling out-of-step in NY, even though its my hometown. All the industry and factories have fled to more hospitable climes. Are our politicians concerned? Not at all. They aso talk about “green taxes”, which would further incentivize industry to flee. They are more concerned with self-preservation.
I’ll probably stay here because my family is here. If I had to start again, however, I’d move. NY is losing guys like me.
Speaking of Ellison, did anyone read the NYer piece on Baldwin? It discussed [in part] their relationship – as Ellison was an early mentor of Baldwin’s, and later challenged him quite a bit. It was pretty interesting.

Invisible Man=Great, provocative book. Read it in highschool.
Morning all. I personally love a reasonably intelligent OT, not that I don’t enjoy the silliness as well.
