  1. No, dh, they almost all sold above widget. BHO and others kept lowballing home values on the theory that the whole Brooklyn brownstone market was collapsing, and when the house sold above the widget prediction, as was almost invariably the case, BHO would claim it was an outlier, straining the meaning of the word outlier well past its natural breaking point.

    The widget was pretty reliable — you could almost count on a house selling for 15% more than the widget price. That’s one reason why I imagine the advertisers put the kibosh on it, although I think there was sufficient proof that the market was impervious to the widget and the realtors shouldn’t have given two shits about the widget. But it was at least unseemly to them, I imagine, for realtors to be advertising on a site that was consistently undervaluing their listings.

  2. I want to know why Bin Laden was videoed watching TV wrapped in a ratty blanket. Was that like the wives were fooling around, snapping cute “at ease” shots of their husband for the family album/archives. Chillin’ on a Sunday, beard all white and swaddled in rags.
