Well randolph,
Work is sometimes a window into a person’s psychology.
It gives insight into their daily routine and their perspective so it’s interesting to hear.
Even saying that you don’t work reveals something.
I already know your favorite movie is The Karate Kid so that’s a basis for some sort of rapport right there and you did say that you wanted to be taken seriously here in the OT, no?
jessi…this is not meant to be snarky in the least but the series of books “XXXXX For Dummies” has one on Futures and Options. These books are excellent for people to read when they have no knowledge of a subject and really want to learn. There are many finance topics coverd in these books.
“Jessi, futures work. The exchanges do a good job. They are just extremely highly leveraged and you can lose much more than you put up for collateral (margin). ETFs are securities and you can lose money but leverage is low.â€
Ugh – now I’m confused! Highly leveraged means you borrow and invest what you borrow – but I thought you were saying the exchange won’t let you invest in futures without posting collateral.
I am prepared to hate Krugman since after he got his Nobel prize, he has appointed himself an expert on absolutely everything, but he had a good article the other day on the dollar.
Just to keep the peace around here and so that bxgrl doesn’t get all riled up and bent out of shape, there are a lot of bozos at these events as well. And the NYT, being the liberal rag that it is, has its fair share…Krugman heading the list.
I’m reading “The OT for Dummies” right now. Sooner or later, I’ll get the hang of it!

Benson: Here I am, praising President Obama and the NYT in the same week. What’s come over me?
Breathe deeply. If disorientation continues, sit down and slowly lower head slowly while continuing to breathe deeply.
