  1. “You may not like the details of the plan, but it does not take away from the fact that it would reduce the deficit by far more than what Obama has proposed to date.”

    you know what would also reduce the deficit? raising taxes and cutting defense spending.

    there ya go – am i a viable candidate now?

  2. I think the Ryan plan is a decent topic for discussion, but it should be part of a much larger plan to address more long term issues.

    Personally, I would prefer to use the bipartisan budget commission’s recommendations as a starting point, but I think the country is too adverse to change for it go go anywhere.

  3. Denton;

    Abortion and gays===> old bait. Try a new one.

    You may not like the details of the plan, but it does not take away from the fact that it would reduce the deficit by far more than what Obama has proposed to date. It would make a serious dent in the deficit.

  4. btw I just decided to look and see if our conservative budget hawk Ryan voted for the unfunded Medicare Part D expansion.

    Yup, he voted for it. Wassup with that?

    It’s really amazing how few true fiscal conservatives there are. When one comes along, I’ll be sure to vote for him (or her)

  5. “I don’t find Ryan’s plan to be serious. Basically, he’s seeking to end Medicare as we know it. And reducing taxes on the rich. Again. ”

    yeah, and remember all the debate about Obamacare how it would screw over old people? and now he suggests screwing over the same old people? What a joke.

  6. Funny, I always associated Barrons with Republicans, not the left. But actually, they’re more about the money. That’s why I like it. They tell it like it is when it comes to the money. They’re not about fighting abortion or gay marriage or all the other issues. They stick to the money.

    I don’t find Ryan’s plan to be serious. Basically, he’s seeking to end Medicare as we know it. And reducing taxes on the rich. Again.

    To me a serious plan looks at everything. It certainly has to address SS by stretching out the retirement age, enhancing revenue, reducing COLA, to address the statistical fact that people live longer.

    And all war all the time has to end, and if we’re gonna be the world’s policeman, the world should pay us for it.

    I’m just as concerned about the deficit as you, believe me.
