aside- so, there’s perception, the actual sensation generated by the stimulus, then apperception, which is the understanding of what that thing perceived is (the 3mo baby’s eyes register the cow, but it’s still fairly meaningless. the college student sees the cow and thinks “dude! a cow! let’s tip it over!”)
Belief would be a somewhat more abstract reaction after perception, implying an assumption of a particular set of characteristics that are possessed by whatever is perceived, whether or not those characteristics are actually possessed (“Oh man! I can’t believe we just tried to tip over one of those cow sculptures! we’re soooo stoned!!”)
I think there is a difference in that perception seems to imply a series of steps to come to a belief, and belief per se which is based on a leap of faith. Look at the sentences, “He perceived there was a cat”, and “he believed there was a cat.”
I have a friend with the original ipad and I’ve played with it quite a bit. You get used to the virtual keyboard and even though it looks like a small screen, it’s really easy to make the size of what you’re looking at wider or narrower/bigger or smaller depending on what you are doing with it. I don’t think it can really replace a PC or mac–you can replace a desktop machine with a laptop really easily but I don’t think an ipad is a good substitute. It could replace a smartphone–the smart part not the phone part–and an Ipod but doesn’t fit in your pocket.
rf,
that’s a useful site,
on Bushwick Ave.
that Hess station across from the cemetary usually has
good prices.
kens,
The only Apple product I have is my Ipod,
which I really like.
The Ipad is very appealing to me as a way to declutter years of CD’s, DVD’s and LP’s

Or that’s my thinking on it.
Even the biggest IPad can only hold a few handfuls of DVDs.
If you have a large CD collection, it probably cannot even hold all of them.
Personally, I hate using touch screens, so will never have an iPhone, iPad, or similar product.

Huh?
Perception – apprehension by senses
Belief – opinion – confidence in something not susceptible to proof.
To all the lawyers in the house…have you seen this? It’s hysterical.

This ad is kind of sad. They probably shouldn’t put all of these things together this way.
