i smelled it and it smelled fine tho (the cream cheese). it was leftover from what i made for my office potluck and was going to have what i made today for lunch but it was out all night. grrr i hate wasted food
I’ve been to Santa Barbara a number of times, but mostly driving through and I have never stayed for more than a few hours.
If you do go I recommend checking out the wineries in the nearby Santa Ynez Valley.
If there for more than a day, I recommend taking a boat trip to one of the channel islands, or just do a whale watching trip. There are always plenty of dolphins around, and depending on the time of year there is a decent chance you will see a whale.
And yes, CGar, we often keep our butter out overnight during the weekend.
Milk though, absolutely NOT

does cream cheese left out over night go bad?

Absolutely not. You are supposed to leave it out to bring it to a workable consistency for any cheesecake recipe.
cobble, people used to store butter on the counter in covered crocks, with no refrigeration. I think many Europeans still do.

Why not try it and see, Rob? : P
(Seriously, DO NOT eat any dairy products left out over night.)
