  1. “they can’t just shut off your card, can they?”

They can shut down your card at any time.
However, there are several reasons why they don’t like to do that. Much more common is raising rates and lowering limits.

  2. Ok Donatella/BSM – will try calling again and ask for a supervisor – good advice
Bxgrl – MY GOD – 27% interest is seriously loan sharking!

DH – but did you pay it off or do you still have a balance? they can’t just shut off your card, can they?

  3. DH- Chase did that to me- although i was never late with a payment and pay more than my minimum (about 3x’s that to bring down the balance.) They lowered my limit by 1500. No reason.

  4. Gem- you’re not doing anything wrong- sometimes they jsut won’t budge. I did the same thing as you, and they did lower my rate but the rates from Chase were much higher than yours- 27%.

  5. haha – g10

i had a conversation with one of my credit card companies a few months ago – they jacked my rate to like 15% and cut my limit in half. i asked them to lower it and threatened paying the whole thing off and just using it to pay for my netflix – they wouldn’t budge.

i’m surprised they haven’t cancelled my account yet – supposedly they’ve been doing that to people who don’t use their cards enough

  6. Hey, Gem. Call up again, ask for a supervisor. Ask them what happened to your rate and why it was raised. Ask them what it takes to get it lowered. I think sometimes people are so poorly trained that just calling back and doing that you can make progress. See what happens….

    Gotta go. Nite.
