Medical care in Hong Kong and China is VERY expensive. Xing was telling me that he thinks he made a mistake by coming to the US. He was an M.D. in China and basically, if you want treatment you gotta pay up. He says he’d be making a lot more $ there now.
Many well off friends in HK go to the hospitals in bangkok for any surgery or treatment that isn’t emergency.
This literally makes me want to throw up. It’s so disgusting. The amount of waste and inefficiency and fear and defensive practice and unnecessary b.s. is sickening.
In Australia, due to the way our insurance worked, we paid cash on the barrelhead for all medical care. Our daughter gave us a couple of big scares in her first year so we were big consumers of medical care.
I have used Arthur Werner twice and found them good both times – arrived on time, were pleasant and came in in line with the quote.
They do a lot in Westchester as well (main depot is in the BX).
Lech – wow $1500 wouldn’t cover the lab tests for the blood work to make sure she was ok enough to get surgery! – UGH the US is ridiculous. am sure it was heartbreaking to see your little 7 month old go through that
Do you know how much my hospital room costs per day after giving birth? $5,000 A DAY! – meantime I am not even much of a patient(unless i have csection) bc once you give birth you are “almost” back to normal so I can eat whatever and take showers and I won’t even need that much care from the nurses – also the baby rooms with me so not like they are busy taking care of the baby unless something is wrong

Where’s Rob? Can someone be poisoned by eating too many vinegar sandwiches?
Here’s a trailer for a new documentary about the projects.

When I go for bloodwork it normally costs about $5,000, twice a year. Thankfully I pay about $200 out of pocket.

i wouldn’t want to pay in to socialized medicine in a country with residents who engage in such risky behavior.
