  1. Watching a successful manned space launch makes me proud to be a human.

    I think NASA serves a very important role in technology advancement, and while manned flight probably not worth the cost involved from a economic perspective, it is well worth it for it’s impact on human attitude and imagination.

    My take on the shuttle program is that it was a kludge that tried to satisfy too many needs on too small a budget, and ended up failing on most counts, especially budgetary.

    It probably should have been killed after Challenger, although I am not sure that NASA could have created anything better given the political realities it works under.
