  1. Mr CGar

Did I tell you some friends of mine just moved to the Heights not far from you? Not sure about how to come out as a PLUSA to them (not that they are brownstoner readers)…”so there’s this website…and I know some people….”

  2. Discussion is universal, Pete, not limited to the US. The UK went through a lot of similar turmoil in the 1970’s and early 1980’s and still haven’t got some of the public unions under control.
I am just sad to see the US go in the wrong direction, away from individual freedom and responsibility. Other countries are further down that road. Canada is, if anything, improving in this respect.
Also, I am a US citizen by choice and may well be permanently in the US within the next few years.

  3. Scott, as I said, I’ll check with Mr. B and Emily, but, FYI, I spoke with them the other day about someone else’s posts, and, in that context, they told me that once someone is an approved poster, their posts post instantly (well, as instantly as anything posts on this site) and are not held for moderation.

It’s entirely possible that there’s some tech glitch with her log-in name. Perhaps she should create a 2nd log in name (as many of us do), and see if the problem persists.

My original log-in name was CarrollGardened until Biff changed it to CGar. Every day when I logged in as CarrollGardened, I was required to reset my account password, which persists to this day; Mr. B told me that it was a tech glitch of which he was aware. So, I gave up and just registered as CGar, and I’ve never had the same problem.

    Just my thoughts.

  4. I actually had a discussion tonight where I pointed out the similarities between the Republicans/Conservatives of the last 2 years and the Democrats/Liberals of today.

I am not saying the the tactics of either side is right or wrong, but I don’t think it makes sense to criticize the tactics of one while ignoring those of the other.

My take is that some stalling (a week or so) is a fine part of the democratic process, but eventually both sides should show up and live by the rule of the majority, as spelled out in the constitution they work under.
