Sometimes the broiler is in the top of the oven. If you have a setting on the dial for ‘broil’, turn to it & look to see if you get a swath of flame along the roof of the compartment.
Gem, East Asian restaurants of all kinds in NYC are mostly run by Chinese people because there are so many more Chinese here than Japanese or Koreans. Actually many more Chinese than any other nationality in the world!
no donna i wasnt aware of that. i’ve only used three ovens in my life. the place i live now, and two previous ovens the two previous ovens had the drawer at the bottom (awesome for making homwmade pizza you can char up the top which i used to like), the oven where i am now the bottome doesnt open, so i assume like you said it might be on the dial, i never noticed tho. ill look tonight ugh now im more in the mood for pizza
*rob*, you have a separate draw at the bottom of your stove you pull out, right? Most stoves have a temperature knob which has the #of degrees and if you turn all the way to the left, you will get to Broil. That’s the way most work. Come on, you are pulling my leg….

also, finally made it to kaz a nou. great food, but had a really bad experience with the host (owner). two groups of five showed up with incomplete parties and he basically wouldn’t seat any two tops until the 5 tops were seated. on top of that one of the groups had a stroller, and the other were all girls wearing big northface backpacks.
it was weird! haha – but all was well once seated.

The issue you mention can be resolved by a modified form of the Poisson’s distribution that is called “Student’s T”.
In this distribution, the process is truncated at a defined point, and at that point the event occurs.

More important than the wine was the big fat joint on the way there, though. 🙂
