My wife has spent a decent bit of time in hospitals, and I have seen nurses that covered the range from saintly to heartless and sadistic.
Most seemed to be decent people who are doing the best they can with a heavy workload.
I have to say, I’ve also had some wonderful docs. And some awful nurses. But the last 3 hospitalizations I’ve had were in the care of truly fantastic nurses.
Filipino nurses – to generalize, they are amazingly kind, caring and attentive and conscientious. My grandmother had a few of them taking care of her as she was suffering from Alzheimers. They all attended her funeral and were visibly torn over the loss. They shed more tears than anyone other than the immediate family. They were all angels.
A doc died & went to heaven & had to queue to get in the pearly gates. He went to St. Peter & showed him his white coat & stethoscope & said, “Why do I have to wait? I’ve saved countless lives & helped many people.” St. Pete told his there were no exceptions – everyone had to wait his turn. After a week or so a guy in a white coat w/ a stethoscope goes flouncing down the line & right through the pearly gates. The doc goes tear-assing up to St. P. “Why did he get in?” St. P: “That’s god, he only thinks he’s a doctor.”

But nurses will take time to talk to you
yeah and then walk across the room and talk trash

Always had good nurses and drs. The admin staff all seemed to have gotten their charm from prison.

Snappy, now the people around me are wondering why I started laughing.

“I come from a family of doctors”
Interesting. A good number of docs have very poor interpersonal skills.
