So after work last night I grabbed a quick drink with one of my sisters (the one who is a lawyer here in Manhattan) at a bar where she hangs out with her co-workers, and out of freakin nowhere she busts out the goddamn squirrel story!!!!! wtf!??!?! I was pissed.
do they get provided by hospitals or do they buy them on their own? sometimes i see nurses on the train, in their actual scrubs, which is kinda gross, i would hope they are on their way home and not going to work!
There was one time when I was 18 (but looked much older) and my mom was working at a hospital in Kentucky, and she was trying to convince me to go to med school, so she got me to spend a couple of days at the hospital hanging out with her and some other docs. She got me a pass that said I was a med student (lie!!) and I got to go hang out in the operating room while they were doing a couple of really serious surgeries. One woman was 8 mos pregnant and got an emergency appendectomy, some old guy had an abdominal aortic aneurism and got his whole chest cracked open…. stuff like that. Then I did rounds with a GP and he had to take some lady’s stitches out, and he thought I was a legitimate med student and asked me if I wanted to do it, and I couldn’t tell him in front of the patient that I was a total fraud, so I did it.
lech…bring her out next time.
