“Can’t you find someone at work to argue with?”

Can’t you find someone at work with whom to argue?

(Jussayin’. I’m not the one playing English teacher here . . . )

    🙂

    Thank you, you are correct.

    Repeating and correcting:

Can’t you find someone at work with whom to argue????

Is ‘waitress’ disappearing? What is the alternative? Server? I couldn’t imagine calling a woman a waiter.

I have noticed people using actor for actress increasingly.

    Yes, server.

Arkady & Dona….no more teaching of cursive handwriting as well.

Yes, Dibs, this is the beginning of the end of Western Civilization. Next we will be doing little scratch marks….no we are ALREADY doing this.

  4. Look, if I won a Screen Actors Guild award, I would want to be referred to as an actress.

(Another recent addition to the vernacular…the imperative….LOOK. It seems so rude. Sorry if I sounded rude)

Also, the use of the imperative DISCUSS. Why don’t people ask, “would you discuss?” or “Kindly discuss” or “would you mind discussing?” I consider this part of the brutalization of modern discourse.
