  1. “Is this the OT or did I just happen onto the screenplay for a really bad telenovela?”

we’re still working on the climactic scene where the leading man gets his eggs scrambled.

  2. Montesorri school for adults….haha…

Legion, in that spirit, can you enlighten me on the use of the word Mami in non-mother situations, i.e. the parking lot attendant calling me Mami. Or the lady in the Comida Latina restaurant calling me Mamita??

  3. I’m super pissed off. I got stood up by someone today. I took off half a day of work to meet with this person for an important reason. Thoughtless little sh*t with a salaried job couldn’t be bothered to call me in advance to tell me they weren’t going to make our meeting. I called and told them that they cost me half a day’s pay!! DAMMIT!!!

  4. quote: dont forget to bring a copy of victoria’s secret catalogue when you show up. I’ll tell show you which is the ONLY one I would date long term. If you prefer, I can point it out via chinese

m4l, does your wife know about your mysterious winged-creature, this type of Lepidoptera who has captured your interest?

(PS – Lepidoptera – new OT word from *rob*)

  5. It blows my mind how many times I have been called Mami by Latino men in public type situations, where I don’t know the person (even if I know the person). It used to wig me out, like “I’m not your Mommy for Chrissake” until I realized that it’s just something you say to women.

  6. yes,
the OT maintains a congenial atmosphere in which to explore all manner of intellectual inquiry.
Sort of like a Montesorri School for adults.

    bxgrl,
I forgot that Nabokov was a butterfly authority.
    interesting.

  7. yeah at the time i was given literally just 4 days notice that i had to move out of the apartment i was illegally subletting. :-/ i probably could have refused but i didnt want her to lose her apartment cuz she gave me a pretty sweet deal for like 4 years and paid my electric and gas bill and stuff. so yeah situations like that can be quite devastating. i think at the time i had like 11 dollars lol and didnt have a security deposit coming to me. i could have moved back to jersey tho i guess, my grandmother was still living there.. looking back i sorta wish i did it and saved as much money as possible. GRRRRRR.

    *rob*
