Now, serious question which I’ll post to the Forum soon: a heating specialist came out to fix one of my radiators a while back and indicated that if it gets too warm in the room, it’s better to crack open a window and let cool air in than continually turning radiators on and off, particularly given the age of my radiators. He said it’s far less damaging to old radiators to just leave the steam valve (knob) alone. This seems incredibly wasteful to me, however (letting the heat on and letting it escape so directly). But he’s the professional, I guess.
