Cobllehiller, good to know. I can always use more to worry about.
My mother was a “consumer advisor” at the Coop (just a regular chain of grocery stores that started in Berkeley, Calif.) in the mid-70s and she told us that margarine was bad for you and butter is better. She turned out to be correct. They had all the studies back then. I don’t know why the existing information was ignored and the fake product was pushed as a “health'” food when it’s anything but — and also sleazy and disgusting.
(Well, actually I do — I just finished Gary Taubes’ book about the science and politics of fat vs. carbs and it sheds some light.)
Also, in case anyone is wondering, gorp stands for “good old raisins and peanuts.” Another Coop-ism.
How many people on here are posting from England right now??? God, I don’t try to find a site called PoofdasandPillowBiters.com over there in London and post all day!!!!!
So funny to hear all the Manchester talk – I am another Mancunian (although not yet a Brooklynite or regular poster here – contemplating moving). All my family are still there. Fwiw, think West Didsbury is the best analogy for Brooklyn now.
I can’t bring Charlotte Russe’s, but how about Italian cookies and pastries? My uncle works for a chain of Italian bakeries in Brooklyn. I’ll bring them if Sam comes.
Posting from Manhattan, where I live currently. But planning on being part of the British Invasion of Brooklyn at some point in the next year or so.

I was thinking of Monica Lewinsky. Close but no cigar.
“I like a good cigar but I take it out of my mouth once in awhile.”
spelling’s correct, benson. Are you bringing any to the party?
I was thinking of apple Charlotte. Close but no cigar.
