  1. You know, I’m really getting tired of the hate towards union and civil service workers. Both catagories have helped millions of people rise to the middle class, including probably a majority of this august body’s relatives and the relatives of friends and loved ones. Not all of you are the sons and daughters of stockbrokers, bankers, lawyers and doctors.

These jobs are necessary for society to function, like it or not, we need teachers, nurses, office workers, and the people at the DMV. For minorities, these jobs have literally made the middle class accessable, for black people, specifically, the laws mandating equal opportunity have made homeownership, college for children, and all the middle class perks, attainable for people who were not able to get the higher education or opportunities to rise in business or law or finance.

The pensions, the overtime, and all those things these workers have that people like Paladino and Dave get all hot and bothered over were negotiated for, and hard won. These people are only getting what is legal for them to get, and for MOST, worked for for years. Are we going to take it away because somebody doesn’t feel a file clerk should be getting a pension commiserate with someone who had a higher education and a job in the private sector?

By all means, trim the fat, cut the abuse, get rid of the abusers and the scam artists. That should save a boatload of money. And a guy like Cuomo is the man for combatting that abuse. But to dogpile on the working joe/jane, just because they are collecting what is rightfully theirs under their contract and the law, is classist, elitist, unfair, mean spirited, and just wrong.

  2. Get what things done, cobble????

What needs to be done is to cut entitlements and outrageous spending.

THERE’S NO MORE MONEY, FOLKS. Cuts need to be made or else. That doesn’t happen with jackasses like Sheldon Silver and the rest of the left wing spend, spend, spend commies around.

  3. Like I really don’t understand why so many of you are so anti-tax?
IF we cut taxes – then how will we keep and get new services for ALL to use and or enjoy
    I mean seriously?
say goodbye to garbage pickup twice a week, or sewer systems or parks department coming the day after a storm to take that 100 year old tree off your new brownstone steps?!?!?!

“I get my information on climate change from YOU Lech”

I think you left off a tiny ‘dis’ after ‘my’. And add the other L (egion) at the end.”

    Ooooooohhhhhh….. snap.

  5. For those who are tired of NY and it’s BS(taxes, taxes, taxes) here are two homes, one in San Antonio and the other in Denver. The 3rd home is lovely but still in NY.

Alamo Heights is a relatively upscale old neighborhood in SA. House is cute and one story for those of us nearing dottage years. St Raphael is in a cool spot in Denver, between downtown and old denver money and the bedroom is terrific.

    All for under $350K

  6. I wonder if I can host a fundraiser for paladino in my home. That would freakin rule. Legion, benson, dibs – I know you guys would be in. If each of us gets an additional four people to come, and everyone gives $250, that’s $5,000. I know that sounds like small potatoes but I bet we can get paladino over for a bbq for 5 grand. I’ll serve some good VT beef, we can all talk about how awful democrats are, and then we can blog about it the next day.
