  1. The bill was doomed without the immigration package. Repubs were dead set against it, and some democrats lack a spine. People act as if gays in the military is going to be the scene in South Pacific when all the guys are wearing coconut shells on their chests and singing about being “dames”. Gays have honorably served in the military since there’s been one, and if anything, deserve respect and the right to be left alone to serve their country. I think our national prejudice against gays is indefensible.

I’m surprised there isn’t a national gay boycott against paying taxes. Why not? If you’re not good enough to be able to get married, or order your affairs the way you’d like, if you can’t adopt or have children without public condemnation from idiots, and you can’t serve in the military, why in the world should you be compelled to pay taxes? Full equality is the only acceptable solution, and that means in the military, too. Other countries have openly gay military personell, and the earth hasn’t opened up, or the order of the military gone to hell. Get over it. If you have the intestinal fortitude to run into a village full of people shooting at you and trying to blow you up, you should certainly have the balls to be able to be in an army with homosexuals.

  2. Reid joined the fillibuster too. it’s a technical move.

I’m not arguing against DADT and most Republicans are not either.

Attaching the immigration bill was just plain stupid, capiche???????????

YOU CAN’T GO BLAMING THIS ON THE REPUBLICANS WHEN REID ATTACHES A VERY, VERY LIBERAL IMMIGRATION BILL TO A DEFENSE BILL
