I think letting groups self-identify is a bunch of politically correct BS when it’s taken too far. The term african american is total hooey and I refuse to use it. People are welcome to use it to identify themselves if they feel it does something for them, and assuming they are factually correct when they say it.

also breeders have it so easy cuz they can easily just pop out a kid and then the kid can take care of you in an emergency.

Dona – I was so terrified at not being able to breathe when my appendix exploded – I figured that’s what emphysema would be like. I try to hold onto that image to squelch desire for a smoke. With 3 weeks in the hospital as a start (& having lost 20 lbs so weight gain would be o.k.), it seemed the intelligent thing to do – but I really wouldn’t say I signed on to quit. I did it in the same spirit as going to the d-word: the grown-up, sensible approach.
