  1. That’s too bad, dave, MM. I ate there 2 or 3 times, once with each of you, and I really liked the food, the service and the space, and the location seemed good, so close to al lthe transportation on Eastern Parkway. And, as I recall, the wine kept flowing, though not as much as it did at Saraghina, dave!

  2. Thanks, MM, I will do that. Is Crow Hill Bistro the place we went? If so, shame that it closed. My friend lives in Park Slope South, 7th Avenue in the low teens, so I know her mother is spending most of her time there, but is also looking for options when she’s in the nabe where she’s staying.

  3. Thanks m4l, MM my eSIL. I will pass on the recommendation.

What’s the NEW name of that great restaurant where we’ve eaten a few times — including when they opened the kitchen for us the day of the CHN house tour — a couple blocks south of Eastern Parkway? I’m blocked. I just remember the old sign with the big black bird — a Crow if I recall correctly. For some reason, I keep thinking I Tre Merli but that’s in SoHo — maybe they have a similar banner with black birds, dunno.

  4. I think I know what house she’d renting, it was on our second house tour, and very nice. Aside from Basil, the guys are right, they would have to truck over to Franklin, for more choices, which would be 2 stops on the 3 train right around the corner, or a long walk. Crow Hill Bistro on Union and Nostrand seems to have closed. For snacks, there is still a pizza shop across the street, and a new Wings place, which won the “Best wings in Brooklyn” contest last year, on Union, next door to the pizza place.

If they are staying any length of time, they could arrange delivery from Foodtown, which would also be a long haul if one doesn’t have a car.

Give them my email, if you’d like me to help them with more choices.

  5. Arkady- welcome back! You were very missed! Sorry to hear you need more surgery- but let us know if you need anything. Glad you quit smoking though- we want you around for a long, long time.

Not trying to copy you but I had a lovely visit to the emergency room last week. Damn ulcers. Cute EMT’s (Dave, take note).

  6. Thanks M4L. This will be my third place bid on in the last 2 months. The other 2 were reasonable offers, and were spurned. One of the places got a better than market bid. And then the deal fell through. The broker wanted to know if I would match the guy who didn’t close. I laughed out loud.
