I just googled “dyscartographia.” The ONLY instance of the word having been used on the entire internet was in the Brownstoner Open Thread of July 28, by none other than our own *rob*.
So rob, when did you make up this unique disorder?
Jessi, I’m sure the right wing screamers will add that to their list of Obama sins. I can hear them now: “He’s redecorating the Oval Office while Americans can’t get jobs!” Doesn’t matter that every president does this, and it won’t matter that taxpayers didn’t pay for it. Won’t matter that it provided the companies that made the furniture, the rug, the painters and carpeters, with an opportunity to make some money. It only matters that Obama had it done, and is therefore EVIL. And somehow communist.
i’d die laughing if obama removed all the period details of the white house and installed recessed lighting. paving the front lawn and a chain linked fence would be a nice added touch.
Sooooooo, I went to Williamsburg last night. I haven’t been there in a while; a year or so.
Was driving on Bedford and HOLY MOLY!!! It’s Bike Central. There were bikes to the right of my car, to the left of the car, in front of the car. I didn’t look but I’m sure there were bikes on TOP of my car. They were riding with traffic, some bikes against traffic. And of course they were NOT stopping at the red lights. At the intersections, they were coming from everywhere and so many near collisions. I tried to take a picture but it was too dark.
It was a hysterical sight to see. I was laughing so hard, I almost peed in my pants.
The friend I was with, lived in Bklyn for many years, and now lives in the country of Bensons and Meatballs was amazed and very distracted by them.
I’d love to go Videotape that street but it would mean going back to Williamsburg.

Or perhaps you just saw a well-dressed model-attractive black man with a blond wig touting Park Slope real estate deals while dropping $50 at Brooklyn Larder and making plans to meet at Al Di La and just put 2+2 together.
