Pete – did you make it to Jordan Pond Tea House for the popovers? I was on the phone with my friend up there on Saturday and she said it was spectacular.
I worked freelance for a non-profit a couple years ago. I made more money (on an hourly basis) than I’ve ever made anywhere else! (No benefits, but great from a cash flow viewpoint!) And that was where/when I started posting on Brownstoner. I had so LITTLE work to do, I was bored, and started surfing the web. And this is how my sad story of decline begins… ; )
Rob, you should write a travel guide to all the places you haven’t been to, complete with all your opinions about the place. I would definitely buy a copy.
“The housekeeper of the nonprofit, not my housekeeper.”
Okay, I kinda get it. So the nonprofit runs a house? Is it like a shelter or something? Sucks that one of the residents nabbed her purse, if that’s what happened.
What’s all this I hear about Tom Di Napoli investigating the OT? Oh, overtime? Not open thread? Well, that’s different. Never mind.
Subway price follows the cost of a slice of pizza. Real issue is City and state budget cuts to their respective contributions to MTA. MTA has to get more from the fare box to cover costs than it used to. Giuliani took a big heap out of City’s MTA contribution to help balance budget in a lean year.
DIBS – saw your early post on Dilly’s Corner. We don’t get there much but you know I love that place. You have any insight into that whole Wall Streeter weekend motorcycle scene in Bucks Co. I know Malcolm Forbes had a huge, um, “gang” years ago. Apparently they used to stop at the Golden Pheasant for lunch. Is that wall street biker thing still active? What’s their deal?
Btw, while we’re all taunting rob with our overpriced indulgences, took my daughter to Blue Marble in PH this weekend. Yum! (I only sampled — on a diet.) $3.89 (not $10!) for a cone.
“and how does someone who works for a non profit afford a house keeper!?!”
Another lesson for *rob*. Just cuz an organization is a ‘non-profit’, doesn’t mean the employees get paid nothing. Hospitals are non-profit (generally), the heads usually make in the high six figures. Same with musuems etc.

am so happy to hear that your housekeeper didn’t get her pocketbook stolen.

“Cobble, is that an NRA card in your purse, or are you just glad to see me?”
LOL, denton! I’m always happy to see you! Are you coming over to Hot Bird, Thursday night?
Actually, that would be my cousin’s wife who BELIEVES that if we ALL had guns, there would be much less/no crime.
