I wonder what some of these parents do to their tantrum throwing children when they get home, especially since it seems like kids act the worst in public knowing their parents are unlikely to let loose on them. I only pulled that foolishness once.
I so do not care at all about the stupid mosque. The only way it impacts my life is it makes me scroll through all of these long-winded political diatribes.
Ishtar, hold your ground. There is nothing wrong with living somewhere and seeing/being vocal about the things that distress you about it. I’m sure there are aspects of this City that you enjoy, and I think the others here are just wondering what those things are for you.

It makes me sad when I see parents cave in to their kids demands in public just because they are afraid of being embarrassed. Teaches all the wrong lessons.
Also Legion, if the guy had some kind of nefarious plan he wouldn’t have been walking down the street in plain daylight for the whole world to see.
“You watch them walk down a block past your house to the trailing sound of the girl screaming.
…What do you do?”
If I had a dollar for every time one of my kids threw an epic temper tantrum in public and I had to put on a strong face and not give in to their demands because that would be teaching them the WRONG lessons, and to random passer bys it probably looked like I was waterboarding my children, I would probably have about 20 bucks.
I wasn’t there, and little subtle things can really help me read a situation like that, so no idea what was really going on, but just based on your description for all I know she was just throwing a tantrum because it was bath time or she had been told no, you can’t have that toy or that candy, or some other trivial thing.

First of all, it’s NOT a mosque. It’s a cultural center with a prayer room inside it.”
Thank you, DIBS!

Thank you ENY for clarifying why I said what I did about ishtar. It’s literally like debby downer in blog format.
WAH WAH!
“To move the mosque would also achieve one of the 9/11 terrorists’ aims: to sow hatred, fear and intolerance among our population.”
Thank you, ENY!
