  1. I am doing my civic duty – it is Jury duty this week. I was trying to tell ET about epicurious and see Cobble got there first. It is the best. Recipes are from Gourmet and many different sources.

My brownstone gentry week off last week was busy — with a little angst — but all’s well that ends well. The stoop guys have ben working very hard and did an amazing amount of work in 4 days. The stoop is already covered in the first layer of groved cement and it looks really good. The house is getting a little gritty from the dust, but that’s construction.

Dibs, Millal wanted 1500 dollars for under the stoop. THAT is a bit rich, I told him. I think he thinks he lowballed on the original work and is trying to get a little more money from me. But under the stoop isn’t so bad…..

  2. “Impossible to be baptised in brooklyn hiehgts. They don’t allow anyone under the age of 50 into the nabe.”

So unless you sneak across the border each day, that must mean you’re over 50.

  3. And there couldn’t be any fgly fedders buildings on the block If I was going for the true brownstone feeling I wanted all of it. I dodn’t want to have to look out my window at fugliness, commercial spots notwithstanding.

    Therefore, no Bay Ridge.

  4. I didn’t want to spend any more having the other homes as well. I compared prices in Ft greene and BoCoCa and west side Harlem and the value was in Bed Stuy. Didn’t want to spend more than $700-800,000.

And the primary objective was a house with architectural detail that didn’t need a total renovation and a yard. UWS Harlem was already ridiculously priced. Shells on not-so-nice streets were $1MM.

And yes, commute was a big factor since the primary negative thing to moving to brooklyn was that I would give up my walk to the office commute!!! 🙁
